In the Santa Monica tournament, UCLA-bound Norman Powell put on a show for San Diego Lincoln, scoring 30 points in an 82-60 victory over previously unbeaten Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. "He's the best I've seen this year," Notre Dame Coach Bill Bedgood said. LA Times 12/8
Recruits
Sitting in the stands across from the student section on Sunday was standout recruit DeAndre Daniels. A 6'8" small forward from IMG Academy in Florida, Daniels earned the coveted five-star rating from Rivals.com. Members of the Pit Crew took notice of his presence, chanting his name and urging him to attend the University of Oregon. In response, Daniels put up the "O" sign with his hands. At halftime, he shook hands with Oregon assistant coaches before returning to his seat. Daniels was on an official visit to the University on Sunday. Daniels is also considering attending Florida, Kansas, Texas and UCLA. Daily Emerald 12/6
DeAndre Daniels, a 6-foot-8 senior forward from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., apparently had a good time on his official visit to Kansas University last weekend. “I think the coaching staff at Kansas made a very favorable impression on DeAndre during his visit, so I think he is strongly considering them,” Daniels’ AAU coach, Dinos Trigonis, told Rivals.com. Daniels headed to Oregon for an official visit at the conclusion of the Thursday-Saturday KU trip. He also is considering Texas, Florida, UCLA and Kentucky. DeAndre Daniels, a 6-9, 197-pound senior small forward from IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., is considering enrolling at a college in January. Daniels, who is visiting Kentucky this weekend, made recent trips to KU and Oregon. He is also considering Texas, Alabama, North Carolina State, UCLA and Baylor. “He made a commitment to come to us for an entire year because he knew he needed to get bigger, stronger and more competitive to be the type of player he wants to be on the Division 1 level,” IMG Academy’s Andy Borman told Zagsblog.net. “Because of his hard work and success in the last three months, his dad and DeAndre and us are contemplating sending him somewhere at the semester. It’s not set in stone. We have sped up his recruiting process, so that if he does find a home at the semester, that he and his dad are very comfortable with, then he is going to go.” Daniels’ coach said he could opt to play right away in college or red-shirt and wait until the 2011-12 season to compete. I couldn't make it to last nights game but I recorded it and a couple things I noticed:
Malcom Lee has a serious confidence issue. In the post game interview he seemed totally unenthusiastic and almost scared to be in front of the camera. I know he has athletic potential but mentally he has not really demonstrated anything but weakness.
Also, I thought I heard either Don or Bill comment that Howland writes the stats he wants every player to achieve on a white board before the game. On a team without a clear leader, I think this is tantamount to playing mind games with the players and rather counterproductive to building confidence.
For me the best part of the game was that beautiful three by Lamb. I knew he had it in him!
Finally, I see Carlino's departure as a mixed blessing. Maybe this will allow us to recruit someone better...someone who actually has a pair.
UCLA has no shot at Daniels. thats from the inside so they should stop wasting time. neither does Florida and Texas. it's terrible that they keep getting lead to a dance they cannot win.

Recruit 1 ELITE Point Guard/Playmaker for 2012.
Recruit 2 BIG GUYS to start in front of the soft Wears for 2012.
Start preparing this team for 2014...as the Wear twins will not save us...

I'd boycott Pauley as well...
Is it that hard to find a decent PG?! At that size there are so many good ballers. The key is you have to find that person that has heart, the killers mentality and runs the floor like a Energizer bunny (pretty much a straight up ballhog). I've ball with the best of them and you see these types of players all the time.
Carlino, Stover, Lane and Anderson should go to UNLV as well...join Moser and Stanback...

True that! An 88 win streak in women's basketball is not the same!
I had a chance to watch a young man (Robert Duncan) from Granite Bay High School over the weekend. I was extremely impressed with his court awareness and making other players play to his level. I hope UCLA has this kid on their radar.
