UCLA Player Updates

By Bruin Basketball Report

UCLA freshman forward Reeves Nelson has been medically cleared to play in this week's games at Arizona (Mar. 4) and Arizona State (Mar. 6) and completed a full practice today, sporting his new protective gear.

He missed both games last week against the Oregon schools after having successful laser retinopexy on Feb. 22, 2010 to repair a slight retinal tear in his left eye.

Sophomore center J'mison Morgan has been suspended for the Arizona game for a violation of team rules.

Senior forward Nikola Dragovic, who sprained his right ankle after landing on a basketball during pregame of the Oregon contest (Feb. 27), was able to play with full contact at practice today.

UCLA (13-15, 8-8) faces Arizona (14-14, 8-8) on Thursday in Tucson at the McKale Center

Great articles about Howland and the Bruins in the L.A. Times this week. Howland is being really candid about the mistakes he has made in recruiting - talent and character mistakes - and about how he should have given Lane more minutes this year. Here's the link: http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/ucla/
I like Howland for a lot of reasons, and I like the fact he is admitting the mistakes. The Swami predicts therefore that Howland will learn from the mistakes. We are going to be a lot better next season.

Bobo is a joke. Just a tall guy. No game. No athleticism. A member of UCLA Men's Volleyball can probably ball better just on pure athleticism.

It makes you wonder how guys like Morgan and Keefe can get so much pub and accolades (including McDonald's All American in the case of Keefe) during the recruiting period, but after even a minimal amount of time on the court you're left scratching your head as to who glorified them in this way. It goes to show that anyone can have an opinion, but many don't mean a hill of beans.

Bobo can't defend anyone and he has no offensive skills. This is the best we got from the great state of Texas? Howland should take the blame for both Arizona losses. He is getting out coached every game. Sun Devils were smaller and they outhustled them on every aspect of the game.
Calling them out as flawed characters and then playing Drags and Bobo and sitting Mustafa is a joke.
Maybe he can get on the recruiting trail early and surprise us.
Malcolm Lee is not a # 2 Guard. He does not belong in a UCLA jersey next year. Let the fosh start and have Honeycutt and Nelso there.
Thanks for the memories Drags. You hit some meaningless 3's at ASU and then did nothing on the defensive end. You simply don't care. See you in Serbia (on a playground).

Great respect for your comments but Howland needs to shoulder the blame. Other frosh are leading their teams past this week's conference tournaments. We don't have any studs and we dont have a team offense or defense philosophy.
Howland didn't have a consistent 8-9 man rotation. That should noy happen at an elite program like UCLA.
I think we were spoiled by BH over the last few years; but which one is the true Ben Howland? Final 4 appearances or the last two awful years?
Time will tell.
Smith comes out a winner out of HS and Jones can play.
So glad Roll got recognized by the Pac 10. Kd was class all the way.
