Nelson Cleared To Play, Bobo To See More Minutes

By Bruin Basketball Report

UCLA Coach Ben Howland announced during his press conference today that freshman Reeves Nelson will play in tomorrow's game against Washington.

Nelson's eye is still swollen but he has been medically cleared to play.  Howland expects Nelson to play his regular 20-25 minutes against the Huskies tomorrow.

"He looks like Rocky Balboa," Howland said, "but he should be fine."

Nelson is averaging 10.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 23 minutes of effective action per game.

Howland also indicated today he plans to play sophomore J'mison Morgan increased minutes for the remainder of the season.

With James Keefe's season ending due to shoulder surgery,  Morgan will be the first center off the bench backing up Nelson at the five spot.

While freshman Brendan Lane will primarily back-up Nikola Dragovic at the power forward position.

Tip-off for tomorrow contest in Seattle against Washington is at 6:00 PM PT.

It will be a nationally televised game on ESPN.

Particularly in the zone, Morgan brings a presence to the paint. He blocked three shots the other night in limited time while guarding the basket area, and as a defender you feel that much more confident when you have a big fella as a safeguard at the rim. He won't give much on offense, though he improvement is evident. But he should bring some attention at both ends, while helping guys like Honeycutt and Nelson on the offensive glass.

Wow. A couple minutes into the second half.... These guys quit tonight. There is NO effort or energy in this zone tonight. Washington is getting any shot they want. Embarrassing. Right now, 68% FG for WA.
It'll be good to get a PG on this team next year. The Bruins have none, and it shows.

Its time to park Dragovic on the bench. He has regressed to less than 1 dementional. 4-9 (1 3pt in garbage time) 3 rebounds and numerous defensive faux pas.
