Stanford Sees Green In Win Over UCLA

The Bruins finished with a split in the bay area this week after losing to the Stanford Cardinal 70-59 at Maples Pavilion.
UCLA had no answer for Stanford's Jeremy Green who scored 17 of his career-high 30 points in the first half. Green finished 11 of 18 from the field including 5 of 8 from three-point land.
Despite outshooting Stanford 54.8% versus 47.2% e field and outrebounding them, 30-25, the Bruins weren't able to pull it together and seemed out of rhythm for most of the contest.
The Bruins had a whopping 23 turnovers which resulted in Stanford having 9 more shot attempts and 13 more free throw tries.
UCLA came into the game averaging a sloppy 15.3 turnovers.
Seniors Nikola Dragovic scored 13 points and Michael Roll had 12 for the Bruins. Malcolm Lee added 11 points.
Freshman Tyler Honeycutt got the starting nod again at forward and responded with a game-high 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Honeycutt continues to show value to the team not only in the box score but in the intangibles of the game. The Bruin offensive flow is much better with him on the floor. He played 26 minutes in the game.
With the loss UCLA falls to 7-9, 2-2. They will now face crosstown rival USC next Saturday on January 16 at home in Pauley Pavilion.

It's not going to change for this group until we play flawlesslyy on both ends of the court. Honeycutt is a keeper; the rest of them disappeared. They play soft defense and simply play sloppy on both ends of the court. Weakside help is not there.
Can someone please find out how many charges the Bruin team has taken this year?

It gets worse next week and the "self imposed cheaters" will come in and mop the Pauley floor with what's left of this team.
Next year is all we can look forward to; and it will be the same sorry bunch.
Completely agree about Honeycutt the kid doesn't have to score to have an impact on the game. Can't wait to see his full game develop.

He can obviously get to the basket, but his mind is shot, no confidence.
I sat on the baseline at Maples near the Bruin bench. We were struck by how little fire the players showed on the court and on the bench. (During timeouts Honeycutt, Morgan and others spaced out and didn't even join the huddle.) Anderson, Lee and Honeycutt all seemed unwilling to take the ball to the hoop. Numerous times guards penetrated, only to lose the ball on ill-advised passes where an effort to finish would have produced a far better scoring opportunity and/or foul. The defense knew that only Roll or Dragovic were likely to shoot - but neither can ordinarily produce his own shot. The lack of confidence on offense was really difficult to watch.
Can I get a defensive stopper please?? No Afflalo/Westbrook type on this team...
Glad to see Honeycutt getting more minutes...Coach, keep Anderson on the bench...

If what you say is true, why do we have a coach on the bench that allows this kind of attitude. Would Wooden stand for it. This is UCLA ... a tradition rich program, the last time I checked. Stop giving BH a free pass.
Despite a certain down year for our hoops team, this has been a very Happy New year for me so far as the University of Sneaky Criminals is imploding day by day! Agree with BruinFan, Rick needs to take over the recruiting battle and win this war and take the decade... but he can leave the SC thug types at the door! Their academics wouldn't allow them in Westwood anyway!
Its a sad day when hapiness is measured by the amount of dirt the world has on USC.
Let's just get out house in order and put a winner back on the court.
