Bruins Hit The Hardwood For First Practice

By Bruin Basketball Report

The 2009-10 UCLA Bruins' men's basketball team took to the hardwood in Pauley Pavilion this evening for the first practice of the year. However, not all of the Bruins were able to practice.

Sophomore guard Jerime Anderson was sidelined and will miss at least the first four practices of the new campaign with a strained left groin.

It is very similar to the injury he dealt with last season. He is slated for a possible return to practice on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fans will get their first look at the young Bruins (seven sophomores and six freshmen) in an exhibition game against Concordia on Nov. 4 in Pauley Pavilion. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Howland Twitter update: "We are practice at 7:30 pm tonight. Had a great team meeting yesterday and I am looking forward to getting started with this young group."

I think our biggest undelying question is who will be the inside guy, someone in the post, to do the dirtywork. Aboya really exceeding expectations last year, but I really miss the Love/Mata combo. Morgan needs to fill the role but I think Coach B has to also start looking at recruiting a few bruisers.
