Mike Moser Decides UCLA Is The Place

Mike Moser from Grant HS in Portland, Oregon, has committed to play at UCLA in 2009. He is ranked in the top 20 among all small forwards and top 100 overall in his recruiting class.
The high school senior had committed to Arizona, but decided to re-open his recruitment following head coach Lute Olson's retirement. Moser had also considered USC, Oregon State, Oregon and the Wildcats.
The 6'7, 185 lb wing averaged 15.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks as a junior at Grant HS. Moser will likely play both the shooting guard and small forward spot. He joins an exceptional 2009 class at UCLA, including Tyler Honeycutt, Reeves Nelson, Brendan Lane and Anthony Stover.
Moser is extremely athletic and gives the Bruins something they've lacked for awhile - a tall, athletic wing. With his size and speed he can guard multiple positions 1 through 3 and has the mentality of a potential lockdown defender. He has a very good outside shot to the three-point line and moves very well without the ball.
UCLA was Moser's final destination because he respected the program's history of success and appreciated the way players have developed within the program on their way to playing in the NBA.

Great get by Ben and company. These past two recruiting classes have been AWESOME!
If Jrue stays two years it will be an insane team in 09-10. It will be 2-3 deep at every position.

Ok, I read this three times....I can't focus at work...I think our title run begins in 2009, then 2010, then 2011, then 2012...don't want to get ahead of myself....as a recruit, who wouldn't want to play here....

we can't compare with NC's recruiting class, but we're good enough to make the top 10 list.
Moser is not on this list...
More good news, Alex Stepheson was denied by NCAA to play for USC this year so there front court wont be that big this year. Taj will have to play center...

Once again, Congratulations to our coach Howland and coaching staffs, and thank you for their tremendous and hard effort to make us proud of our upcoming recruits for years to come.
As we know that UCLA offered a scholarship to Abdul-Hamid, Mustafa for this year, and with our 3 seniors (Josh Shipp, Darren Collison, Alfred Aboya) left UCLA after this season, it will only opens up to 4 scholarships available for 2009; however, we will have to provide 5 scholarships for our five 2009 recruits. Therefore, we will have 13 scholarship players, and that may be one scholarship over the 12 scholarship limitation for 2009.

My understanding is that somebody (from the above group) “may” have to leave earlier after this season in order to open up a scholarship for our five 2009 recruits.
I guess there are three possible 'solutions' to the above problem. Either Howland is expecting someone to leave early (most likely Holiday?), he feels that 1 existing player is likely to transfer, or he knows that 1 of the incoming freshman is willing to play 1 year without a scholarship. Which do you all think is most likely?
The scholarship limit is 13 and not 12 so we are good. If JH stays, this may be the first year under Howland, that we have all 13 scholarships filled.

UCLA are hopeless. 1 point down against michigan and they take 6 three point shots in a row. Michigan in deep foul trouble. Why nto draw the foul and go to the line.

*ahem* Mike Roll. If we win a championship this year, you've got to promise to step off the scholarship and pay for any more years as a walk on. Out of the entire roster you could definitely afford it.
Finally! The Bruins are getting some size, which has killed them in the last few championship runs. Props to Howland...and Lute Olson.
