Neither rain nor traffic nor the threat of a stormy night was going to prevent UCLA Coach Ben Howland from attending Tuesday night's scrimmage between Sylmar and L.A. Windward that featured two future Bruin players, 6-foot-8 Tyler Honeycutt of Sylmar and 6-10 Anthony Stover of Windward. And what a show they delivered. Stover, looking much improved from his days at La Canada Renaissance, scored 25 points, had nine blocked shots and sent down five dunks. Honeycutt had 20 points, four blocked shots and four dunks. Both pulled down rebounds in double figures. At one point, Stover had a dunk, Honeycutt responded with a dunk and Stover came back with another dunk. Windward won the game, 59-54, despite playing without Michigan-bound Darius Morris. Howland said he attended to support the two players who signed with UCLA earlier this month. But he added, "I'm excited about both of them. Anthony is active and blocking shots. Tyler is skilled and very explosive. They're both long." LA Times 11/25
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.): Coach Gary McKnight (797-74 and seven state titles in 26 years) is on the verge of recording his 800th victory for the Monarchs and it won’t take long because he returns four starters from a 35-1 team which won its second consecutive Division II state title. All five starters are Division I college talents...The fifth starter, 6-5 junior UCLA commitment Tyler Lamb, averaged 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists at Ontario Colony. Max Preps 11/26

Westchester will be one of the favorites to win this season's City title. The team has an outstanding guard duo in senior Dominique O'Connor and junior Jordin Mayes. The Comets play host to their own tournament this week, with Woodland Hills Taft, Compton Dominguez and Los Angeles Windward among the teams entered. LA Times 11/30

Renardo Sidney has become a parody of himself. I'd love for him to run the point @ USC.
Ah... Mondays... thank you Renardo - "I love to run and push the ball and find the open guy. I really want to play point guard and make my team better." Yeah... he is all about sharing and playing point guard.
BBR,
Great to see 2010's and 2011's starting to hit the Monday posts. Thanks for the great work. I look forward to Mondays!
Renardo wants to go where they will pay him more money ( cough... oj mayo) thats what this whole thing is about. his dad wants money now!!! I'm glag we didn't go after him. Go bruins!
Before you slam Renardo, read the link. That quote actually is what Jordan is saying about his own recruiting.
tokyoband80: Excellent pick up. Although I wonder about Renardo's work habits, we really ought to give the kid a break. When I was his age, I was dealing crack in a Turkish prison. It's his dad who is the real butthole. Renardo may not be UCLA material, but I have no reason to believe he isn't a decent guy. And by the way, I made up the Turkish prison thing.
Here here Robwash. I agree and actually look most foward to hearing from Sidney Senior. I had a feeling that the quote above was unrelated to Renardo - my bad for not taking the time to read the link. I apologize to Junior... as for Junior, go tell your dad we want some more Big Macs or Whoppers with Cheese... or whatever other gems he has.
Not to shift gears but can you believe USC is favored by 30+ against our Bruins in the Rose Bowl?
And to pile on, Cocky Carroll wants to wear their home jerseys to the game. He says it's good for the rivalry, but you notice he does this when our team is in a very down year and he can afford the loss of one timeout per half.
Now while I agree the nostalgia of both teams wearing the home jerseys is wonderful, but how about going threw the appropriate channels Carroll? That would be the correct way to go about it other then shoving it down the throat of Softy Neuheisel and forcing him to go along with it so he can look like a cool guy!
What else can future L.A. Mayor Carroll force Neuheisal to do...I'm afraid to ask.
Neuheisel actually spoke about this way back in July. He was always favor of this, and wanted it done this year along with Carroll.
As a rule, I never bet rivalry games. But the uniform thing is a real slap in the face to UCLA, and a potentially big motivator. I pick the Bruins to cover.
C'mon Robwash, don't take the Bruins to just cover on this site. U$C fans can read that. All we say in public is that we're goning to do them trojans dirty. We can't concede a victory to those a-holes. This is a revenge game for us on all U$C seniors. Screw those chumps! They ain't playing back-to-back games in the Rose Bowl. They can go play in the Holiday Bowl after we take 'em out. Lots of girly tears on those trojan faces as they board the bus to leave the Rose Bowl, for that peice of crap they call a campus.
All... CRN and Pom Pom agreed to the uniform thing together. There is no slap in the face. This was discussed already in advance. UCLA will burn one of their timeouts at the start of the game to compensate SC for the one they lose for wearing the uniforms.
However you want to spin it, I would not be shocked to be driving down Sunset one summer night and see Carroll riding in a limo being driven by Neuhisel. Time for Rick to quit playing nice guy to that narcistic Trojan coach. Next you know, Rick will let Carroll tune his guitar so it will strum the SC fight song when Rick plays it to his players. Doesn't he know this is war?
