Bruins Climb to No.2 and No.3 in Polls

With a sweep in the desert of both Arizona schools, the Bruins leap-frogged Memphis in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches to No.2 and climbed to No.3 in the AP this week.
The team has not been ranked this high since the third week of the season when the Bruins were No.1 and No.2 in the Coaches and AP polls, respectively. The following week they suffered a loss at home to Texas.
UCLA is now ranked No.7 in the RPI and are No. 34 in terms of strength of schedule.
The Bruins have a chance to improve upon their position when they face No.7 ranked Stanford at Pauley Pavilion on Thursday night. UCLA finishes the regular season Saturday against California on "Senior Day".

I'm rather worried about the Bruins experiencing a hangover against Cal Saturday if they win the sure-to-be emotional game Thursday night. This happened last season against UW, of course, and it cost the Bruins a #1 seed. UCLA is best when focused and frankly terrible when distracted and lethargic. Let's hope for a big senior night out of UCLA and a Duke win Saturday.

If Stanford and UCLA end up tied for the Pac-10 title after Saturday's games, what is the tie breaker for the #1 seed in the Pac-10 tourney?
Tie breaker goes to Stanford...it boils down to the USC game which Stanford has the edge over us....
This game is for 1st place...
Why does it boil down to the u$c game?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of it is, that if we ended up tied with Stanford at the end of the regular season, the tiebreaker goes to Stanford because USC would be the highest placed pac10 team where UCLA/Stanford's record against this year are different, with us losing at home and Stanford having already beaten them at their home, so they can only potentially lose to USC when they're away on Saturday.
Depends on how UCLA and Stanford end up tied on Saturday. The above scenarios assume UCLA loses to Stanford and both teams win on Saturday. If both teams lose on Saturday, they are still tied for first. However, their records would be the same against USC. You would need to go to the next team which is ASU. Guess who wins that tiebreaker. Is that confusing enough? If not, I got another one that I can share.
