Pauley Pavilion Revitalization
Survey

UCLA Athletics has
continued to move the Pauley Pavilion revitalization process forward over the
past several months and tremendous progress has been made in all facets of
project design and fund raising. The university is committed to restoring Pauley
Pavilion, home to championship Basketball, Gymnastics and Volleyball teams,
prominent events and essential student-related activities, to a world-class
athletic and cultural venue.

While Pauley Pavilion's mystique remains as strong
as ever, the arena needs significant renovation to keep its place as a
preeminent collegiate facility. This project provides a unique opportunity for
all of UCLA's students, alumni, and friends to honor UCLA's proud legacy and set
the course for a new generation of achievement. Such a commitment will ensure
that Pauley Pavilion remains the place where Champions are
Made
.

As a next step in the overall process, UCLA
has retained Barrett Sports Group, LLC, an experienced consulting firm in arena
and stadium development, to conduct a survey related to the renovation of Pauley
Pavilion. Please note that we are not trying to sell you anything at this time
and your responses are confidential. This survey should take approximately 10 -
15 minutes to complete.

Among the many enhancements being considered are a new retractable
seating system to bring spectators closer to the court, new concession areas and
restrooms, and modern arena technology to improve the fan experience; hand rails
in the aisle ways, new and expanded student-athlete facilities, new locker
rooms, medical treatment and media rooms; a main lobby that would serve as a
central entrance and celebrate UCLA's illustrious athletic tradition; and
redevelopment of the area between Spaulding Field and the arena. These
improvements are all being designed to meet the long term needs of UCLA
Athletics and its fans.

Thank you in advance for your opinions and views
as we carefully evaluate and consider the many aspects associated with restoring
Pauley Pavilion to a world class venue.

that survey was pretty lame...
I hope the planners for the new UCLA basketball arena (renovate Pauley?) will keep in mind that out-of-state alums want to see a great venue. A packed house. A home court advantage.
Add a great coach (done) & some winning teams (done) to a great venue (tbd) and any revenue questions will be resolved over the long term.
Renovating/replacing Pauley takes great vision...the AD (under Dalis) was incapable of any such vision so I hope the current AD (under Guerrero) will take on this challenge with great success.

I liked the survey for the fact it gave me an idea of what the university is planning as far as the facility refurbishments and additions AND the expected donor fees.
As much as I'd hate to pay to more for my tickets, if the fans want a better Pauley then they better plan on anteing up big time.
For those who want a refurbished Pauley, you are getting what you want...but you may not like what you will be PAYING for it.

Thanks so much BBR! I completed the survey and I'm hoping very much that the large space behind each basket is eliminated so a "pit" like home court advantage is created. Thanks again BBR for the continued updates this Summer!

I am all for bringing the fans behind the basket closer to the action, but really do not want Pauley to go the way of Staples and other "modern" stadiums that detract and distract from the game.
Please do not add a huge scoreboard with corporate logos and ads, please no piped in music and fake clapping sounds. Have any of you been to UNLV's stadium?
College basketball at Pauley is great for its focus on the game and students.

Coming from Huntington Beach on any day, especially on a weekday during rush hour, can be a nearly two hour drive to Pauley. So the following are very important fan friendly features that are most needed after a long drive.
1. larger and wider corridors under the seats to concession stands and restrooms.
2. Larger and three times as many restrooms.
3. better organized concession areas.
4. a better layout of the food court that is set away from the entrances.
5. center court with seating within a few feet of the floor and all around. Let's get a better home court advantage.
6. Wider seats and more leg room.
7. Climbing aisle grab bars.
I pay for my tickets from a season ticket holder who cannot make every game so the above are the basic improvements that I would like to see
whenever I come to Pauley.

If anything can be done about the
alternate narrow steps leading to and from the seats please do it. Some of us are not as agile as we once were and a fall could have disastrous consequences.

Bring the fans closer to the court. It's ridiculous sitting so far back under the baskets. Use this opportunity to right this wrong.
