Regardless of what the stats might indicate, Malcolm Lee was flat-out
the most impressive player seen in Treviso in day two of action,
bar-none. He looked so far ahead of the players 2-5 years older than
him that it wasn’t even funny, making it quite scary to imagine how
good he’ll be in a few years when his body starts to fill out and he
finds a true position for himself. What’s certain is that seems to have a future stud committed to them.  Lee is a freakishly quick combo guard with a knack for getting into the
paint. He can go left or right equally well, and possesses an
outstanding first step and even better body control finishing in the
lane. He showed nice instincts finding the open man on the drive and
dish, even if he looks to be more of a shooting guard at the moment
than the point guard he is listed at on the roster. DraftExpress 6/11

SF Bay Area Pro-Am Basketball League:
The league begins Monday. Games will be Monday through Thursday,
tipoff at 8 p.m. Admission: Free. Players to watch: Dior Lowhorn of USF; Wendell McKines, entering freshman
at USF from Richmond High; Rob Jones, entering freshman at San Diego from
Archbishop Riordan High; Drew Gordon, senior at Archbishop Mitty High. San Francisco Chronicle 6/17

Recruits

Scout 2008 Top 100 (Summer Ranking): Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and William Buford have been our highest-rated shooting guards for a long time. Though the order has changed occasionally over the last 2 years, these have set the standard. Scout.com 6/13

Luke Babbitt, the junior All-American from Galena High
School, has opted out of his verbal agreement with Ohio State
University and will play basketball in 2008 for his hometown, the
University of Nevada Wolf Pack, according to Galena basketball coach
Tom Mauer. The earliest Babbitt can sign a letter of intent is November. Babbitt, who was not immediately available for comment, originally chose Ohio State over Nevada, UCLA, Arizona and Gonzaga. Nevada Appeal 6/11

Thirty of the
nation's top high school underclassmen, including seven who earned
All-America honors for their play in 2006-07, have accepted invitations
to compete in the 2007 USA Basketball Men's Youth Development Festival,
USA Basketball announced. The Festival will be held June 20-24 at the
U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs...including Jrue Holiday, Drew Gordon, Malcolm Lee, Reeves Nelson and Jerime Anderson CSTV 6/14

Clash of the Classes Seniors vs. Juniors: Reeves Nelson has been perhaps the best surprise of the game. I can't
believe how polished he is, and he is a fantastic rebounder to boot. He
just snared on away from the much-taller Gates...Jermie Anderson (committed) has been playing phenomenal basketball for the seniors
on the offensive end... He already has 6 assissts to go with 6 points
as the first quarter comes to a close. Oregon Live 6/15

Rick Pitino can't comment on high school players until they have signed a
letter of intent, but he was clearly in a good mood last week after top
center prospect Samardo Samuels committed to U of L. That came shortly
after center Jeff Withey backed off his earlier commitment. Courer-Journal 6/17

Rivals.com's 32nd ranked player and 6th best center prospect, San Diego Horizon's Jeff Withey,
became Arizona's top big man target two weeks ago when he decommitted
from Louisville. The 7-foot-0, 225-pound Withey has set up an
unofficial visit to Tucson and Arizona will get first crack at landing
a commitment from the four-star prospect. Cardinal Sports  6/18
